The primary goal of the department is to deliver mathematics in the most effective and enjoyable way possible, so that students throughout the school obtain a positive experience from their mathematics education.
We aim to:
- Set challenging targets with high expectations of all students.
- Ensure all students achieve their full potential in mathematics.
- Smooth the transition for students between Key Stages and ensure progression in teaching and learning throughout their time at Tong.
- Recognise that students learn in many ways and cater for this in our teaching and their learning methods.
- Offer a variety of approaches to teaching and learning to engage and motivate students and demand their active participation.
- Work together to ensure student enjoyment and success.
- Take on developments in education to enhance teaching and learning.
- Offer students opportunities and encourage them to develop mathematics further.
