Artsmark Gold, Awards and Success…

April 21st, 2010

‘By gaining an Artsmark, a school shows its commitment to the wider development of young people and teachers and to raising the profile of the arts in the school and local community.’

ARTSMARK GOLD

In June 2008, Tong High School was successful in gaining Artsmark Gold.  This national award reflects the high level of provision the school offers in Performing Arts and Art.

Staff and students work hard to ensure that all performances are of the highest possible standard, reflecting the professionalism that the award symbolises.  This was clear most recently in the school achieving first place in the Rock Challenge regional dance competition (also awarded best choreography, best backstage crew and best set and stage design)

Alongside this our Anne Frank Ambassadors and the Ignite Theatre Group were successful in winning a Community Harmony Award, yet more examples of the wonderful work achieved in Performing Arts.

Due to the support and high level of training offered many of our students go on to study Performing Arts beyond the Sixth Form, we have students attending Northern School of Contemporary Dance, one of our students successfully gained a place in the National Youth Theatre and several more Performing Arts places at Universities across the country.

We are and we will continue to ‘Be the Best’ we can be.
