The Artists Community

The Artists community is one of the five communities in Tong High School. All communities at Tong High School contain students from Years 7 to 13. Each community is divided in to two teams named after famous Yorkshire people. Our teams are named after David Hockney, the famous artist from Bradford and Henry Moore the sculptor, who was born in Castleford.

The Student Progress Leader

The Artist community is headed by a Student Progress Leader who oversees the educational and academic progress of each and every student.The Artists Leader is Mr R Morgan.

Each community is divided in to two teams headed by a Team Leader who oversees the pastoral welfare and attendance of all students in their team. Each team contains 6 team groups with students from all years. Each team group has a Team Tutor.

The Artists Charity

Our community supports various charities. The Artists community has recently supported the ‘Living Paintings Trust’. They produce specialist touch and sound packs that bring paintings to life for people who are visually impaired.

Points

Each community can earn points. Students earn points for attendance and academic effort and achievement. There are also a number of competitions and challenges whereby our students can earn points for their community.

Student achievements

Student achievements are regularly celebrated within the Artists community. Each term students receive certificates and rewards for effort and attendance. Students also receive rewards known as ‘Friday Six’ for exceptional effort and achievement. Students can also claim prizes for completing their ‘Points cards’ Artists – Student Achievers

Key Events

Each term a number of events and challenges are organised by the communities. Sometimes these events are organised to support our charities or simply to encourage competition and enjoyment.

Attendance

Our community is constantly working  to improve our attendance. Tutor groups who show improved attendance are rewarded. For example the tutor group with the best attendance figures istreated to a free breakfast.
